Derbyshire Peak District Staffordshire

A 9 mile cycle family friendly route following the valleys of the River Hamps and Manifold along the former Leek and Manifold Light Railway and can be walked as well as ridden. The surface is tarmacked and traffic free for most of its length.

Along the way is the famous Thor’s Cave, once occupied by stone age people and now a very popular tourist attraction. If you’re getting hungry at this point there’s the excellent Wetton Mill tea rooms nearby.

The route can be started from either Waterhouses, located behind the Crown Hotel (where you’ll also find the Manifold Cycle Centre if you need to hire bikes) or alternatively you can start from Hulme End, where you’ll find the excellent Tea Junction cafe in the former station buildings.

More information on the route and nearby attractions can be found on the Peak District Tourist website.

Note: Not to be confused with the Manifold Way / Manifold Trail, a popular and very scenic walking route.
