Gorgeous Oxford with a little help thanks to its student population means you'll find bicycles everywhere! Oxford is a bike friendly city and whatsmore they're even welcome on the buses (a top tip if visiting from London for instance).
As for cycling routes, you're spoilt for choice road cycling in Oxfordshire! With a vast array of quiet lanes, breathtaking countryside, friendly cafes and beautiful villages. Be sure to visit Aston, Burford, Shipton under Wychwood, Kingham, Minster Lovell, Bruern, Asthall and Kelmscott to name a few.
There’s even a mini-Stonehenge, the Rollright Stones - just a throw from Chipping Norton (also home to the stunning Bliss Mill you see pictured here). Whilst nearby be sure to pop into The Hive at Stow-on-the-Wold for perhaps the best coffee in the Cotswolds!
If you're looking for a short ride from the city itself, leave the city centre to Woodstock and Blenheim Palace, where the NCN5 takes you along 10 miles of off-road tracks and quiet roads, perfect for a family outing. In the other direction the NCN5 takes you along the Thames Route where much of the route follows the riverside and offers plenty of car-free stretches, right through to Abingdon, Didcot and even Reading.
Finally in the southwest of the county, the fabulous 110m long Uffington White Horse is just off the Ridgeway, where the first 43 miles from Overton, Wiltshire though Oxfordshire to Streatley, Berkshire is MTB heaven.
