Encompassing parts of Southern Snowdonia and North Wales this seventy five mile road cycling route is a favourite of ours, tackling the famous Horseshoe Pass (1367ft) just outside of Llangollen pedalling over to the circumvent the majestic four mile lake at Bala via the market town of Ruthin.
Do note that the route is largely on A and B roads with the exception of parts around Bala, Llangollen and towards the end of the route through Corwen – host to some spectacular views as we descent into Llangollen. However it’s ideally for those looking for a faster pace or wishing to stay on easily navigable roads.
You can finish the ride, as we did, by extending the route five miles to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, well worth the detour for a quick walk across the famous aqueduct!
