Circular route

A hilly route in rural Herefordshire taking in quiet roads, scenic panoromas and the River Wye.

Beginning from Ledbury we head west towards the first climb at Woolhope, where it’s then onto Fownhope (The Greenman Pub is excellent) and a very steep climb up to Capler Camp, with stunning views overlooking the River Wye (there’s picnic benches here too).

Next it’s south down to How Caple and then a decent into the pretty village of Hoarwithy. Following the River Wye we head south through Picts Cross and Bridstow into Ross-on-Wye – an ideal place for a pitstop should you need one!

Heading out of Ross on busier roads we have a short stretch of the A40 to take, before leaving and taking the B4221 towards Upton Bishop and onto the gorgeous village of Kempley.

Finally it’s onto Dymock, then north to Leddington and back towards Ledbury – The Malthouse cafe here does fine coffee and cake, including a Guiness slice!
