A spectacular Ceredigion coastal road cycling route featuring a visit to the beach, 11th century castle, tree-lined scenic, quiet roads and glorious views around every corner.
To begin we follow the River Teifi westerly along winding, if a little busy, roads before turning off left at Llechryd for a short hilly ascent and quiet roads circling into Cardigan, after passing Cilgerran Castle.
Heading into Cardigan it’s hard to miss the imposing 11th century castle and it’s walls. As we’re around halfway through the route you’ll find plenty of choice here to refuel and grab a coffee, including the fabulous Food for Thought cafe – their Biscoff cake slice and daily specials are superb!
Next we continue along the coast before arriving at the seaside town of Aberporth with it’s golden beach, aroma of fish & chips and sea air which somehow always makes the world feel so much better.
Continuing on we reach some of our favourite roads, the climb up to Tresaith is a favourite with tree-lined single traffic roads and views from behind worth stopping for – do checkout our sunset below.
Our final stretch sees us cycling back south towards the riverside town of Llandysul, where the high roads from Plwmp to Ffostrasol make you feel you’re on top of the world.
Due to running out of daylight we had to take the final sprint back along the busier A486, however if you’ve time do divert east and take in the quieter roads around Capel Cynon and Prengwyn.
