Set in the heart of Snowdonia, whichever direction you choose you’re in for fantastic scenery, magnificent valleys and tough ascents with panoramic views to reward. Under new ownership and situated just a six mile cycle away from the popular chocolate box village of Beddgelert in the small hamlet of Llanfrothen within the Snowdonia National Park is a fantastic community cafe and shop serving up tasty breakfasts and brunches using their own sourdough, alongside homemade cakes and great coffee too.

Breakfast is served until 11:00 with a great meat, veggie or vegan breakfast in either small or large guise alongside ‘on toast’ (cheese, poached egg or beans) and generous filled baps (bacon, sausage, halloumi or vegan sausage).

For brunch (served until 14:30) you’ll find spring poached eggs with tomato, garlic romesco & minted peas, a fantastic courgette fritter (pictured), Mexican chicken chips (southern fried and delicious), avocado on toast (pictured) and beef brisket reuben sandwich soaked in ‘Dark Side of the Moose‘ ale to name a few.

Additionally there’s a tempting selection of burgers (choice of six) with meat sourced from just three miles down the road and a great vegan selection; the ‘Y Ddraig Werdd’ with beetroot, applewood vegan cheese and sauerkraut is something we’ve not seen before. This alongside a minty Welsh lamb or beef & Emmental burger, plus freshly prepared sandwiches and salads.

Cakes had been popular on our visit but those remaining included white chocolate & raspberry blondies, cherry or rich chocolate brownies and chocolate flapjacks.

Inside you’ll find a large number of tables towards the back of the shop along with plenty of bench seating out front for those sunny Snowdonia rides. As you can see from the pictures the new owner is extremely welcoming and has lots of plans to help make it the perfect pitstop for cyclists, including new racking too.

Note: Thursday to Saturday if you’re passing by late, their popular pizza evenings run from 17:30 – 20:30 and boast their four day slow fermented sourdough pizzas. Flavours include slow cooked beef brisket, spicy Italian salami, caramelised garlic mushrooms & mozzarella or aubergine with garlic, capers & olives.
