The first of Jane’s Pantry shops was opened in Saint Aldates Street, Gloucester in 1971. Now boasting ten stores around Gloucester and Cheltenham, you’re just a short cycle away from finding their delicious bakes, cakes, patisseries or breads, all made in-house.
At their Twigworth bakery and coffee house just two miles north of Gloucester, you’ll find ample seating and a superb range of tasty bakes and cakes. On our winter visit we found a range of warm pasties including a large breakfast one, beef curry, lamb & mint, steak, cheese & onion, traditional, sausage or vegan rolls and tempting cauliflower, broccoli, leek & cheese sauce pasty.
For those looking for something sweet there’s their famous fGloucester Drip cake – similar to lardy cake but made using beef ‘dripping’ instead of lard (pig fat) alongside a superb selection of decadent patisseries and cakes; chocolate eclairs, cream doughnut, apple turnover, generous custard slice, festive stollen slice, Rolo brownie, plain or chocolate flapjack, Gloucester drips, covered chocolate orange cookie, range of shortbreads (iced & raspberry) or tempting Viennese finger.
Additionally there’s a choice of freshly prepared sandwiches, large salad station, hot pizza slices, paninis, jacket potatoes and for those early risers, filling breakfast rolls. There’s takeaway options too and of course the freshly made bread for those not on two wheels!
