A fantastic, farm themed cafe set in the heart of the South Hams region, meticulously decorated with nods to its origins throughout, including straw resin floors and a welcoming wood burner for those winter rides, it’s the ideal pitstop when exploring south Devon.
For those early risers (9:00 – 11:30) you’ll find everything from their large veggie, ‘Steer’ and ‘Bull’ breakfasts (Sladesdown sausages, bacon, fried egg, hash brown, rosemary mushrooms, beans, tomato & toast) to poached eggs on toast and filled breakfast baps.
At lunch their regular items include a range of freshly made sandwiches including a delicious Devon ham & wholegrain mustard, alongside beef or veggie pasties and their take of a ploughman’s. Daily specials (do checkout their board) on our most recent visit included beef chilli nachos, cream cheese on sourdough, loaded fries and a farmyard brioche with bacon, egg & tomato.
Their cakes are equally as temping and all homemade, often including a Belgium chocolate, lemon drizzle, orange & pistachio, carrot and a rich fruit cake. As for tray-bakes; chocolate brownie, blackcurrant crumble, chocolate orange muffins, pecan & toffee flapjack…. oh also did we mention their lavish gizzillionaire slice (GF & VG friendly)?! As for specials on our visit they had fresh American pancakes with either Nutella, maple & bacon or Biscoff & banana.
Out back there’s spectacular views from their large outdoor garden which also includes an enclosed , sheltered marquee. Inside there’s a good number of tables using their rustic furniture and features a most welcome log burner for those cooler rides. Larger groups will have no problem resting those weary legs in this bustling and popular cafe visited by both tourists and locals alike. What’s more there’s also dedicated and secure bike racking out front in the car park too.
