Barnstaple was the finish to a 2018 stage of the Tour of Britain, navigating through the hilly and scenic roads of North Devon. Within the bustling town is a popular workshop, cycling shop and cafe serving up a range of delights for hungry cyclists travelling by road or along the popular Tarka Trail – the UK’s longest traffic free cycle route.
Savoury options include a range of reasonably priced bagels and sandwiches with a variety of fillings including chicken/cheese & BBQ sauce, bacon/brie/lettuce & tomato and tuna & mayo. There’s also the cycling staples of toasted tea cakes and toast too.
For those looking for something sweet, there’s a small selection of daily cakes and tray-bakes specials including their delicious iced raspberry Victoria sponge cake and rich chocolate brownies.
There’s plenty of seating inside the themed cafe with tour memorabilia throughout and even past events displayed on TV. Outside is equally as specious with plenty of benches and bike racking alongside too.
Alongside the cafe you’ll find a fantastic workshop and cycle store should you need to attend to any repairs during your ride!
