Newton Court Cider was founded over 30 years ago, based just outside of the Herefordshire town of Leominster a county famous across the world for it’s apples and cider! A recent addition to their farm however is a superb, new cafe where whilst relaxing you can peak through the windows and watch their cider and perry being bottled. Popular choices include Gasping Goose, Panting Partridge, Little Owl & Black Mountain cider.
Breakfast is served each day until 12, with their filling breakfast baps (bacon, fried eggs or sausage) served all day alongside a filling English, veggie or vegan breakfast, varying ‘on toast’ options and a moreish eggs Benedict or Royale.
As for lunch, it’s available until 3pm and during our autumnal visit included a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, including a tasty roast beef, horseradish & rocket or smoked salmon & cream cheese alongside a choice of salads, quiches and larger meals to boot, with big plates ranging from burgers, pasta, to beef bourguignon.
The coffee is fantastic and sourced locally from one of our favourite roasters, James Gourmet Coffee of nearby Ross-on-Wye with loose-leaf tea from Trumpers Tea of Hereford. Cakes are available until close and during our last visit (late in the day when stock was depleted) featured a vegan flapjack, coffee & walnut, chocolate brownie a range of locally made biscuits & cookies.
On Friday evenings from 5 until 8pm you’ll find their popular pizza nights where you can both eat in or take out.
Inside is a smart, modern dining area with a small shop selling local produce. Outside is a spacious outdoor terraced overlooking the surrounding Herefordshire countryside and offering plenty of space for cycling groups and clubs of all sizes.
