taste

The custard cream slices are a firm favourite of ours along with the fruit cake slice, caramel shortbread and iced Belgium buns

selection

Everything you'd expect from a fantastic bakery! Sweet goods include brownies, flapjacks, cookies, fairy cakes, tarts, caramel shortbread, cake slices, cream pastries and doughnuts. As for savoury there's sausage rolls, warm pasties, turnovers, wraps, baguettes and of course plenty of fresh bread!

value

Extremely reasonable! Cappuccino (£2.00), tea (£1.80), eclairs and cream pastries (from £1.35), cake and flapjack slices (from £1.15), caramel shortbread (£1.40), warm pasties (from £2.25), sausage rolls (£1.15), wraps (£2.99), baguettes (£3.25)

storage

No storage on-site, it's very much a quick sight seeing trip of Northway Trading Estate

groups

As there's no on-site seating and Northway Trading Estate is a little too grey for us, it's a quick grab-and-go and head back along the cycleway (past Morrisons) into the riverside town of Tewkesbury to enjoy our delights beside the River Avon

location

Set beside the River Avon and en route behind Ashchurch army base, onto scenic Overbury and the spectacular circular cycle route around Bredon Hill, it's the perfect pitstop for that mid-ride sugar fix

Supplying bread, cakes and savoury treats to Gloucestershire since 1935, Drapers Bakery now has their very own on-site shop where you can pick-up delicious goodies fresh from the oven.

Set on a rather drab industrial estate is a beacon of sugary heaven where you’ll find cream pastries, eclairs, brownies, flapjacks, cookies, fairy cakes, tarts, caramel shortbread, cake slices and doughnuts to name just a few (see our pictures for more).

As for savoury there’s warm sausage rolls, bacon & cheese turnovers and various pasties, in the chiller you’ll find freshly prepared baguettes and wraps including a tasty chicken tikka!

You certainly feel like a kid in a sweet shop when entering into the small shop, everything is very reasonably priced and you certainly know it’s fresh seeing the bakery out back. As for our recommendations the Viennese chocolate finger and rocky road are hard to beat! The custard and cream slices are also perfect fuel for tackling our nearby circular route around Bredon Hill!
