A hidden gem of North Devon, a superb family-run cafe and farm shop with spectacular views overlooking sunny Devon countryside alongside cosy, seated shepherd huts and plenty of space for groups of all sizes.
The menu changes daily along with the on-site deli; delicious savoury snacks on our last visit including a caramelised onion, beetroot & goats cheese tart alongside moreish cheese & bacon turnovers and generously filled breakfast baps (sausage, bacon, egg or mushroom). Other all-day bites included a choice of homemade soups (leek & potato or vegetable), generously filled pasties (cheese & onion or beef) and sandwiches (BLT) too (pictured).
For those with a sweet tooth like us you’re in for a treat, all are homemade and during our last visit featured a chocolate brownie heart, passionfruit melting moment, raspberry ripple macaroon, croissants (plain / pan au chocolat) and gingerbread cookie. Cakes were a banana & chocolate, red velvet or rhubarb, orange & almond (all pictured).
Situated just off the busy A381, four miles south-west of the hip town of Totnes the farm shop is ideally placed for that cycle club pitstop before continuing onwards south towards Dartmouth (11 miles) and onto the bustling town of Kingsbridge via breathtaking coastal roads. Ultimately leading onto sunny Salcombe perhaps for an ice cream or two?!
