Established in 1972, open both early or late is this popular coffee shop serving locals and tourists alike with mouthwatering homemade pastries, savoury bakes, sandwiches and patisseries alongside great coffee and a warm welcome.
On our autumnal visit sweet goodies included a bolo de arroz (Portuguese muffin), pastel de nata (Portuguese egg custard tart), cinnamon buns, chocolate brownies, lemon meringues, a. thick apple slice, Mississippi mud pie or choice of croissants, pain au raisin or pain au chocolat.
Savoury bites included a frittata (a quiche without the crust) of the day which was roasted vegetable, Cornish pasties and large sandwich selection; roast pepper & hummus, brie & cranberry, Cornish beef & horseradish, goats cheese & chorizo or ham, cheddar & chutney.
For those in a hurry there’s a serving hatch out front with quick service, takeaway and enjoy in St Ives harbour front.
Among the myriad of generic cafes and coffee houses in St Ives this superb find makes a most welcome change.
