As a cyclist who appreciates all things propulsion, ‘The Hill’ by Caffeine and Machine situated in the North Cotswolds, just a stones throw from Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon is the perfect mecca for two or four wheel fans alike.
A popular coffee house, licensed bar and restaurant, it’s themed meticulously around the world of motorsport and compliments their other locations in Bedfordshire (The Bowl) and Hampshire (The Hut). If visiting on a weekend, you’ll be sure to spend hours gazing at the supercars and classics lining the reserved parking who turn up to this popular venue.
The affordable restaurant is open late seven days a week where you’ll find weekday baguettes (we’d recommend the cajun shrimp), locally-sourced burgers (including the famous ‘Cult’), hand-stretched pizzas, sharers and side. Early risers until 11:30 will find a range of affordable & filling breakfast baps, eggs ‘on toast’, fluffy pancakes or small & large breakfast plates. There’s plenty of vegan, veggie and gluten-free options on both menus too.
As for the coffee… the clue’s in the name; a deliciously smooth roast from Cast Iron Coffee Roasters made from their spectacular La Marzocco KB90 machine.
Sweet treats on our last visit included rocky road, chocolate brownie or flapjack with seasonal specials on the menu too; chocolate brownie (gluten-free) with marmalade whipped cream or mince pie with brandy.
With a superb large outdoor seating area, under canvas and plenty of seating inside it’s an ideal stopping point for larger cycling groups exploring rural Warwickshire and the north Cotswolds.
