Coffee doesn’t get any better! Sourced from Union roasters. We highly recommend the cappuccino complete with real chocolate pieces

taste

All the cakes are homemade and the hot food is freshly prepared by their in-house chefs, even making their own sourdough which you can take-away with you. Our personal cake favourites include the iced gingerbread, lemon & passionfruit and black forest! As for savoury their seasonal frittatas aren’t to be missed!

If we could pick only one favourite The Hive would be in our bucket list! A warm welcome always awaits from the friendly family-run team, where stepping inside the decors combines Cotswolds chic with a modern twist. As you can see by the number of cake and coffee pairing picture it’s a popular choice for us at Cake Rider HQ!

The cake, brunch and lunch menu changes on a daily basis and there’s always something new and unusual to try. Cake specials found during our numerous visits have included a rose, raspberry & pistachio, black forest, lemon & passionfruit, elderflower & lemon, Pimms, biscottee, matcha & lime, gingerbread or Jammy Dodger to name a few.

Brunch (served til 11:45, or all-day Sunday) boasts the ‘Hive breakfast’ – 2 Arlington white eggs, sourdough toast, Gloucester Old Spot sausage, bacon, mushrooms and their own house beans. There’s also a great vegan option available too with smashed avo, chilli jam, homemade baked beans and mushrooms. Additionally you’ll find smoked salmon, bacon or sausage sarnies, eggs on toast, jumbo porridge oats, homemade granola or morning pastries too.

In terms of lunch options there’s a wide selection and we can highly recommend their famous homemade frittata, served with a choice of two salads including the ‘Hive slaw’, which is simply devine! The freshly made toasted sandwiches are served in their own baked sourdough, with the roast ham and sticky pickle a great choice. Other delights include veggie frittata with a choice of salads, ‘Old Hooky’ rarebit, homemade soup and traditional cream tea.

The coffee is from Union coffee roasters and always very tasty – we highly recommend their Cappuccino which comes complete with chunky chocolate pieces.
